Have you been thinking of how you can be give back to the community while learning to be sustainable this COVID-19 period? The Green Collective SG has partnered with Food Citizen to bring you 3-part series of online composting workshops.

Proceeds will go towards two causes that both The Green Collective SG and Food Citizen support:
· Covid-19 Migrant Support Coalition

Life After Food Series of Composting Workshops comprises of 3 parts:
1. Aerobic Composting
2. Bokashi Composting with the Urban Composter
3. Vermicomposting

These sessions are created for those of you who are new to composting, or have started on your composting journey but would like to get some tips to do it better. Conducted by Food Citizen’s facilitators, they are practitioners of the composting method they teach. They are happy to share their experiences as a learning point, and help you troubleshoot any problems that you’ve encountered - we know there can be many!
These workshops also teach and encourage the use of materials readily available in your own homes and features the Urban Composter (available at The Green Collective SG) in the Bokashi Composting workshop.

4 July - Part 2 : Bokashi Composting with the Urban Composter

Welcome to the world of fermentation! Bokashi is said to originate from Japan. Composting using the bokashi method is really a two-part process, where you ferment food scraps before burying them (as pre-compost) into soil before they become compost that is ready to use.
Bokashi composting bins are suitable for the urban city dweller as they can be placed inside apartments with less chance of foul odour.
In this workshop, the folks at Food Citizen will provide all the juicy tips and tricks on how to do Bokashi composting using the Urban Composter bin available at The Green Collective SG.

2:05 – 2:50pm Interactive sharing
· What is bokashi composting
· How to ferment food waste using the Urban Composter
· How to effectively treat / decompose the fermented food scraps into compost
· Local tips and tricks from a fellow user to troubleshoot your Urban Composter bin
· Insights on where you can explore to deposit your pre-compost if you do not have a garden
